State Team Manager Applications

Rowing Queensland is seeking a dedicated person for the role of State Team Manager. This position will work in cooperation with and take direction from the Rowing Queensland High Performance Manager to provide cohesion by ensuring quality communication for the best possible performance for the Queensland State Teams. The State Team Manager is primarily responsible for the coordination and conduct of the logistical arrangements surrounding the preparation, touring, and post tour debrief phase of the below nominated Queensland Representative Rowing Teams.

QUEENSLAND ACADEMY OF SPORT (QAS) - ROWING SCHOLARSHIPS 2010 - 2011

A new national Rowing scholarship process has just been instigated, for all state institutes, academies and the AIS.
 
Please read the attached documents for information on QAS Rowing Scholarships, including performance requirements and the nomination process.
 
Any Qld based athlete can apply for a QAS scholarship as long as you believe you have met the criteria.
 
Existing QAS Scholarship holders are also required to nominate by the due date.
 
Applications close at 5pm on Friday 20th August 2010.
 

Australia Targets Success at the Under 23 World Championships

The Australian Under 23 Team commences their tilt at international success tonight as the 2010 Under 23 World Rowing Championships commence in Brest, Belarus.

Eight Australian crews will line up at the sixth running of the Under 23 World Championships, with close to 900 athletes representing 57 nations entered in the 2010 regatta.

Australia’s charge will be led by the men’s four crew of Joshua Dunkley Smith (VIC), Nicholas Purnell (NSW), Will Lockwood (VIC) and Dominic Grimm (NSW), who enter the regatta fresh off their successful senior World Cup tour.

TSS Rowing is seeking a Head of Coaching/First Eight Coach. The successful applicant will be required to oversee the performance of all crews within the program, be responsible for Coach Education and Coach the 1st Eight Crew. The position is part time with an emphasis of time commitment in Terms 4 and Term 1 of the school Year.

Qualifications:

• Level 3 coaching qualification or equivalent.
• A current blue card (or be eligible to apply for one)
• Speed Boat licence

Queenslanders Win Gold and Silver at World Rowing Cup 3

Australia’s women lightweight double scull crew of Hannah Every-Hall (QLD) and Alice McNamara (VIC) has surged to gold in World Rowing Cup 3 in Lucerne, Switzerland.  They highlighted the day for the Australian team, which also included silver medals for the women’s double scull crew of Sally Kehoe (QLD) and Kim Crow (VIC) and the men’s eight.

New Zealand Take Out 2010 Youth Cup with Queensland in Third

New Zealand will fly back home with the Rusty Robertson Cup stored safely in hand luggage.  The Kiwis starred throughout all three days of competition at the Australian Youth Cup championships, forging such a strong point-score lead within just the first day’s racing that the Australian states were left battling for second place.  New Zealand won medals in all boat sizes and from both their men’s and womens teams to win the Youth Cup with 121 points – a staggering 39 points ahead of second-palced NSW.

Queensland Youth Cup Team lifts to 2nd overall on Day 2

At the conclusion of racing on Day 2 of the 2010 Youth Cup Regatta Queensland has put in several strong performances to stand in 2nd place, just two points clear of New South Wales and West Australia but well behind the again dominant New Zealanders. 

The afternoon's racing was the highlight for Queensland, as the Men's Quad, consisting of Ben Ward, Ben Morley, Brendan Fischer and Angus McColl, executed their race plan to perfection to storm home with a close bronze medal behind New Zealand and New South Wales.  That was followed two races later by the A Final of the

New Zealand Dominates as Queensland Finishes Third at Youth Cup Regatta

Queensland has finished Day 1 of the 2010 Youth Cup Regatta in third position behind Western Australia and a rampant New Zealand team.  The Kiwis were almost unstopable on a cold, still and often gloomy day's racing at the Sydney International Regatta Centre; out of a possible 80 points on offer, New Zealand finished with 76 in a display not seen before at the Youth Cup, winning 9 out of tweve A Finals.  The West Australians are sitting second with 51 points, closely followed by Queensland on 48 points and New South Wales on 47.

Additional Masters Events at Rowing QLD Regattas

In preparation for the 2010 Pan Pacific Masters Games regatta to be held at Coomera Regatta Centre on the 6th and 7th of November, the following events have been added to the program for the Pine Rivers Regatta, Noosa Regatta, Coomera Regatta and Tweed/Murwillumbah Regatta.  Please be aware that these events will be run in conjunction with existing events as listed below; it is important to note where these events fit into the program when making your entry.
