Rowing Queensland Take 5 for Safety campaign!

Are you compliant with the recently introduced marine legislation changes?
On the 1st of December 2024 the Queensland Government amended the Transport Operations (Marine Safety) Regulation 2016 to increase marine safety by requiring lifejackets to be worn for certain heightened-risk boating activities if a ship is to be taken to be equipped with the lifejacket.
Maritime Safety Queensland had an awareness and education period for the changes that is ceasing at the end of this month (June 2025). From the 1st of July 2025 enforcement action will commence for those not compliant with the changes in legislation. Maritime Safety Queensland have already commenced patrols on the Brisbane River.
To assist our clubs and schools understand these changes and what they mean for rowing sheds across the state, Rowing Queensland has launched a ‘Take 5 for Safety’ campaign. This campaign through providing information and digital posters aims to mitigate any rowing tinnies being caught out by the new changes.
