Queensland Schools' Championship 2026
Published Wed 27 May 2026
Rockhampton will host one of the state’s most significant rowing events in September 2026, further demonstrating the capability of the Fitzroy River to hold rowing competitions.
The Queensland Schools’ Championships will be held in Rockhampton from Saturday, September 19 – Monday, September 21.
Rockhampton Regional Council has proudly committed $10,000 to the event, plus in-kind investment, which draws 800 athletes plus supporters to the region, delivering a strong boost to the local economy and tourism sector.
Rowing Queensland CEO Anthea O’Loughlin said “Following the loss of the rowing course in 2024 due to flooding, Rowing Queensland welcomes the commitment from Rockhampton Regional Council to re-establish a rowing course and support the continuation of this event.
“Students from across Queensland will descend on Rockhampton for the Championship, with the Interregional Challenge being one of the key events. This allows students to form teams outside of their school, for highly contested racing and strengthening pathways, participation and connection across the state.”
