Organising a Regatta with Rowing Queensland

A Rowing Queensland sanctioned event is a regatta or rowing event that has been formally recognised and approved by RQ.

Sanctioning extends beyond listing an event on the RQ calendar. It ensures that each event operates within an appropriate safety, regulatory and insurance framework, while supporting clubs to provide racing opportunities for the wider rowing community.

As part of the sanctioning process, RQ:

reviews the event's Safety Management Plan (SMP);
manages the Aquatic Event Licence application process with Maritime Safety Queensland (MSQ) and the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR), where required;
includes the event on the RQ calendar;
promotes the event to the wider Queensland rowing community; and
insures the event through V-Insurance.

Deductions from Seat Fees

RQ collects seat fees from participating clubs and schools. The following fees are deducted from the seat fees before the balance is distributed to the host organisation.

Regattas held in Central, North & Western Queensland and Northern NSW
