VOLUNTEER AND BE A PART OF THE ACTION AT THE SQSAC REGATTA SERIES

The South Queensland School Age Conference (SQSAC) Regatta Series is a participation-focused rowing pathway designed for school-aged athletes from clubs and schools across South East Queensland and Northern New South Wales.

Delivered by Rowing Queensland, the series is built around enjoyment of racing, skill development, and creating regular opportunities to get on the water. It is open to all schools and clubs with school-aged rowers who are not currently competing in other school-based regatta associations, providing an inclusive and accessible alternative.

The series is conducted across four regattas, culminating in a final trophy regatta. The focus is on sculling, with racing distances of 1km, 1.5km and 2km, catering to both novice and experienced rowers. Athletes are encouraged to participate regularly, build confidence, and develop their racing skills over the course of the series.

SQSAC brings together a broad community of rowers from the Sunshine Coast, North Brisbane, Metropolitan Brisbane, South Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Scenic Rim, Darling Downs, Stanthorpe region, and the Northern Rivers, creating a welcoming and supportive environment where participation comes first.

Competition formats may vary across the series to keep racing engaging and enjoyable, offering a mix of challenges that support learning, improvement and a genuine connection to the sport.

Help maintain our facilities at the Queensland State Rowing Center. At the end of the regatta we need help emptying the bins around the grounds and in the toilet block and consolidating the bincoin.

We need 3 umpire boats drivers each regatta. You will need a boat licence. If you like this job you may like to consider learning to become a Boat Racing Official.

Swift water rescue is the most important job on the water. You must have a boat licence. Stationed at 250m from the finish line, the vantage point is brilliant, until you hear the words Rescue, Rescue, Rescue.

We need 2 people to check bow numbers in and out each regatta.

We run free courses thought the year for Boat Racing Officials with opportunities to be a part of the team at regattas across several seasons and locations
