Rowing Queensland Boat Race Officials (RQ BROs)

Boat Race Officials are the backbone of safe, fair, and successful rowing competitions in Queensland. Representing Rowing Queensland, these dedicated volunteers play crucial roles in every regatta – from start to finish.

What They Do:
RQ Boat Race Officials oversee all aspects of racing operations, including starting races, ensuring fairness on the water, monitoring safety, and adjudicating race outcomes. Whether on the water in umpire boats or working behind the scenes with timing, marshalling, or check-ins, BROs make sure each event runs smoothly and in line with national rowing standards.

Why They’re Exceptional:
Queensland’s officials are some of the most experienced and highly respected in the country. Many have officiated at national and international events, and they bring professionalism, precision, and a deep love for the sport to every regatta. Their teamwork, attention to detail, and commitment to athlete safety and fair play are second to none.

Why You Should Become One:
Becoming a Boat Race Official is your chance to stay close to the action, give back to the sport, and be part of an incredibly supportive community. You don’t need rowing experience to start - just a willingness to learn and a love for sport. You’ll receive training, mentoring, and the opportunity to progress through national accreditation levels. It’s rewarding, social, and vital to the future of rowing.
