Qld rowers invited to National Selections

Queensland Rowers invited to 2010 National Selection Trials

Rowing Queensland congratulates the following rowers on their invitation to the National Selection Trials.  The National Selection Trials to be held from 23 April to 2 May 2010 are for selection for the 2010 Senior A, Adaptive and Under 23 National Teams.  The trails will be held at the Sydney International Regatta Centre, Penrith to select squads to compete at the 2010 World Cups, the Senior A World Championships and the Under 23 World Championships.

Queensland Takes Second in the 2010 Interstate Regatta

Queensland has come 2nd overall in the race for the Rowing Australia Cup for Overall Points at the Interstate Regatta for the third year in a row at Lake Nagambie, as Pippa Savage won her third Nell Slatter Trophy and the QLD Women's Youth Eight won it's third Bicentennial Cup in a row.

Queenslanders Recognised in Rower of the Year Awards

After a brilliant day of finals at the 2010 Australian Rowing Championships, the rowing community gathered for its night of nights, the Presidents Cocktail Function and Rower of the Year Awards on Friday the 5th of March.  Established six years ago to recognise those within the community for their service to rowing, the highlight of the night is undoubtedly the crowning of the year’s Rowers’ Rower or Crew of the Year.

Finalists announced in the 2010 Rower of the Year Awards

Queenslander's have been well represented in the nominations for the 2010 Rowing Australia Rower of the Year awards.  Tireless Regatta Secretary Bob Alexander has been nominated for the Volunteer of the Year, as well as former Rowing Queensland Chairman Chris Grummitt and ROMS creator James Worrell.  QAS Head Coach Tim Conrad has been nominated for Coach of the Year following his silver medal with the Australian men's coxless four at the World Championships, while former Rowing Queensland High Performance Manager Peter Shakespear has also been nominated.
